You can always download the Apple updates and put them in the InstaUp2DateCache folder with the checksum on the file name.

If the resource is cached the application won’t go outside to download it.

Most of the necessary checksums are on the vanilla catalog

I got the 14.1.3 Updater working in InstaDMG. I used the Patch Office scripts found in the post. I tried several different combos of the patch and I’m not sure which combo worked. I posted my working 14.1.3 to my dropbox with the understanding that it won’t be up there forever.
Quote by: Allister[p]Hey nbalonso,

New catalogs are in svn as of this past Saturday, thanks for posting yours to compare against and following up. FYI, the method I’m using to derive what updates are needed, and in what order, is:

    1. Restore the BaseOScache file per build(10.5.6, 10.6.3, 10.7.0 and newest Lion from the MacAppStore)
    2. Boot with no packages added/workflows applied(i.e., don’t use deploystudio, just asr at the command line) and run the gui swupdate manually
    3. grep the install.log for the order in which the packages are applied(only 10.5 had a SoftwareUpdate log, but ‘installed’ is a good keyword to cut through the fluff)
    4. rinse and repeat until gui swupdate returns no packages

Then, when compiling those in order, only two other things of note:
    a. remove any superfluous(hardware/accessory-specific, EFI/firmware/thunderbolt) updates and
    b. check iLife updates with the same gui manner on the most popular version of the OS(still Snow Leo as of this writing)

    Sound about right? Allister[/p]
Well that would explain why the order on mine doesn’t match the one in the svn. Your method sounds very reasonable ➡ so I’ll do that from now on

    Always learning

Turns out that the iPhoto 9.2.0 update requires 9.1.0 to be updated, so I have included this line

Same here 😕 . Moved to Lion + updated instaDMG and now the same installer for Communicator update 13.1.2 is not working anymore. I am applying before the 13.1.0 ( as I was already doing) but still doesn’t work

my theory is that Apple stopped including by default Flash in the OS because of this. They just do not want to repack every time

btw last image creation didn’t quite like flash player at all, hopefully Munki is pushing it.

What and where files are you repacking? only two files in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins ?

dumb question but how you reference the packages that you want to install with instadmg.bash ?

cause I always used instaup2date and catalog files

    😆

well the “good” news is that this works fine with a Lion image created with instaDMG with no users and no cleareg

Well I just tested the latets build on a Lion computer and it does build a proper image. My guess is that you cannot build Lion on SnowLeopard

Now the question is how should I make the catalog file to call instaup2date to install all the applications? because I don’t know how to reference the installer disk aka InstallESD.dmg

in other words, the instaup2date cannot find the installer disc

    any suggestions??
Quote by: bw38[p]I wanted to confirm that the iLife Support 9.0.4 update is definitely needed.

I just created a new image today and excluded that from the vanilla catalog. But as soon as OS X booted to desktop, Software Update ran and asked to install the iLife Support 9.0.4 update.

So, if possible, please don’t remove it from the 10.6 vanilla catalog:[/p]
Well I just checked this on a fresh image without the 9.0.4 update and I am not getting asked for it. Then I checked on the local software update server and it is enabled.

    The description of it says:
Provides system software resources that are shared by iLife and other applications. This update improves overall stability for the Media Browser and iPhoto slideshows. It also provides compatibility between Aperture 3 and the Media Browser.

The update is recommended for all users of iLife ’09, iWork ’09, and Aperture.
So I would say this should go in the iLife09_Updates.catalog ¿?
Quote by: Allister[p]
but I would rather leave that requirement in the repo just in case
[/p]
I agree with you there, the repo should get stable only. I added the lines for anyone that is not really confident.

    btw I tried and I’m getting a dmg of 857Kb 🙄

to make it simplier just comment ( add # ) to the following lines of instadmg.bash to make it run in 10.6
line 665
    line 667
    line 668
    line 669
    line 697
    line 699
    line 701
then save and run the command
sudo ./instadmg.bash -s -I ./InstallerFiles/BaseOS/InstallESD.dmg -n “Macintosh HD” -m my_LionTest
