Quote by: bw38[p]I actually had this happen recently too when I used the Office 2011 SP1 iso from Microsoft. I just got my hands on it and decided to test it out, but it didn’t work. I didn’t really get to dig too much into it though since I have the original Office 2011 installer which works fine for me. I’m not sure if others have had similar issues either.

Could you tell us what installer of Office 2011 you’re using? And which patchers you’ve applied to it?[/p]
I’m having the same issues with the SP1 iso- the patchers work, but office asks for a product key when launched.
…it worked with 13.1.2, but suddenly stopped working…
Same here 😕 . Moved to Lion + updated instaDMG and now the same installer for Communicator update 13.1.2 is not working anymore. I am applying before the 13.1.0 ( as I was already doing) but still doesn’t work

When I ran the patcher on the SP1 media, the sha1 on the licensing bundle remained unchanged. I manually edited the pre and postflight scripts to comment out the launchctl commands and prepend $3 to the paths, it worked. Now to see if I can fix the updates, autoUpdate and 14.1.3, I’ll report back.

Sorry but I still cannot get the patches to go in for office 2011

I used the version 4 of the patch installer and I have the volume license of office. It seems communicator patches goes through but not office. I can see there some changes in the office patches installer by going into show package.

    Any hints would be great

FYI. Just trying to put 14.1 and 14.2 only.

    Thanks

    Two questions:

    1) Does the patchOffice2011_1410Update_v041.dmg patcher (stated to work on the 14.1 and the 14.1.2 updaters) work on the 14.1.3 updater?

    2) Has anyone yet dealt with the new MS Lync application (a replacement for Communicator), either manually or through a patch script? It’s only available through the VLSC site, I believe.

    1. I haven’t had luck getting it to work with 14.1.3. I tried a few weeks ago with no success.

    2. I did manage to install Lync without any kind of patching involved! It simply works as is. Just drag the package from the ISO from Microsoft’s website. But keep in mind there is an update for it already Lync 14.0.1. I haven’t tried adding the update on top of Lync in InstaDMG. I’d like to be optimistic and say it also would work without any patching involved but……

Try to use the Office 2011 installer without SP1 included. And follow the guide in the wiki article here: http://www.osxdeployment.com/wiki/Office_2011

    Still having problems?

I just went digging into the 14.1.3 Update, and can’t find anything in there that says “licensing”. So I’m about to try a new InstaDMG build with the Office 2011 SP1 installer (patched by the Installer droplet, and then the Communicator package removed as I’m building for a Lync environment), followed by the unmodified 14.1.3 Updater (which doesn’t seem to include a Communicator package either). Wish me luck!

For safety I just looked in my allegedly patched SP1 installer, and the postflight had not been modified! So I’m putting the mods into it by hand.

Any luck with the applying the 14.1.3 update? Working on here as well, gets as far as applying the SP1 update, but no dice with 14.1.3.

Can’t say, because the SP1 Installer didn’t run at all. Apparently it really doesn’t like having the Communicator package remove. I tried again using the -f flag but that made no difference. Back to the drawing board.

That’s what I want, though: SP1 Installer minus Communicator, then 14.1.3 Updater. I hope there are lots of eyes on this.

I got the 14.1.3 Updater working in InstaDMG. I used the Patch Office scripts found in the post. I tried several different combos of the patch and I’m not sure which combo worked. I posted my working 14.1.3 to my dropbox with the understanding that it won’t be up there forever.

    Good luck,

That’s a big step, Goldberg, huge thanks!

Next question: which patcher, if any, can be successfully applied to the SP1 Installer?

I don’t have a link handy but there is a patch script called patchOffice2011_1410Update which should work on SP1

I dropped the SP1 Installer on that patcher, then checked the postflight. The $3’s have not been added nor the launchctl load line commented out.
