ParticipantI have had the same results with the missing folders but not with FCS3. I do get the same result with the update though. I can’t work out why. I am using composer too to package FCS3. Despite Composer making a nice looking package for it I too am having troubles getting it to play nice. I’ll be back in the office tomorrow and will dig out more info for you.

Participantthanks for the good oil on spss. I had a go again with composer on Friday and while it made a usable installer it didn’t keep the serialization which is no good to me. I’ll have a crack at this on Monday and post the results. again thanks.

Participantthanks for the sophos tip. I do have that in my build train and on Monday I’ll cut to the chase and take it out to see if it is the offending app. I took out the last 4 I had added but that made no difference and sophos is next in the build sequence. I’ll report back on Monday.

Participantwell it seems as though i had it all wrong as i can indeed navigate to core services and make the selection. i commented out the latest additions to the catalog but it still came up on first boot so… it’s a process of elimination. this could take some time as i need to have everything in the catalog. balls…

Thanks but it’s not in the list of apps that the dialog box offers and there are no options to search and/or locate. I need to find which app is causing it and work out why and how to fix it.

ParticipantI’ll be having another go at spss19 tomorrow. I’ll give composer a crack and see what I get at the end and if it’s usable. I’ll keep you all posted. all one of you mrspider…

Participantoh and I’m baking 10.6.5 but I’ve had this with 6.2 – 6.4 when creating monolithic images.

ParticipantI must confess I nave had this before when building monolithic images but never followed through with a full diagnostic to find the cause but in this case it has only surfaced after adding a few things at once that were not in the catalog before. they are the latest Mbox drivers, Cisco VPN client (which was a failure anyhow and I’m going to leave it out as the OS does just fine IMHO), Second Life Client/Player and 64 Bit HandBrake. I added all these in one hit and didn’t re-package them but threw caution to the wind and used the DMG files that they came in (thought I’d live life on the edge and taste the coolaid). I’m picking one of them is the culprit and I’ll go through the elimination process tomorrow and find out all things being equal. Despite the dialog box it appears to have no negative effect on the image (unless someone can point one out of course!). Hope this helps.

Participantyeah, we use DeployStudio here too. Possibly as it is the easiest solution. It can be a bit flakey at times but on the whole it does the trick.

ParticipantHi Nate
I have a small problem with the Office 2011 installer which may be linked to the user account install also. When I put the Plist files in the user template they don’t work, well the problem is that they don’t get transferred to the new user account when it is created hence they don’t work and Office runs as if new with the setup assistant etc. If I install them in the user account, Libs/Prefs then it’s all good but this is not ideal for obvious reasons. Also the Public and Sites folders are not created in the new user account so there is something screwy with the new user account pkg or my implimentation of it. I’m just trying to get this method working before moving on to the first boot stuff. One step at a time eh?
Any thoughts greatly received.

ParticipantIf you can get hold of Composer by JAMF do so. It can build a fully patched iLife installer that can be put in a catalog without it blowing away the iLife 9.0.4 support installer. Composer can assist in many other ways also by building packages for lots of other software packages that require more wrangling than usual.

ParticipantWell that all worked. Now i’m trying one with everything in to make sure everything works. Fingers crossed.

ParticipantJust deleted all the caches, imported the OS disc again and rebooted. Am baking an OS and update catalog only which has gone past the point of no return so everything seems back on track. Sometimes it does strange things but it’s usually easy to fix and most of the time it’s my fault. I guess the more you put in a catalog the greater room for error.
Once i’m over this hurdle i’ll be looking at the firstboot stuff so I can have all the settings for the user accounts in the process. Seeing as we have LDAP and AD here i’m not sure how much I can or want to do with OD especially for the lab computers which will be locked down with Deep Freeze.

ParticipantI can’t get anything to work at the minute. Something is not working when ejecting the temp files. Am just starting fresh with a new setup. The catalog passes but didn’t work when i went to process it but then nothing is so i’m not sure where the issue is.
Cheers
