ParticipantHi There
I tried in vain to get instaDMG and 10.6.5 update to play nice together on Friday but no matter what I did they don’t seem to work together. Anyone else had a bash (no pun intended) at this? The improvements to 10.6.5 working with MS Exchange are the only reason to want to roll out this version of the OS in the new images next year.
Regards
Tristan

Participant10.6.5 worked perfectly for me using InsatDMG. Make sure you have the Combo update and make sure you have the hash in there as well (provided on that page as well). Easiest way to update the 10.6_vanilla catalog is to right click and copy download link on the Combo Update page, paste that in over the 10.6.4 link, paste the new hash on from that page as well and then update the description.
You *will* need to test which updates are necessary and which are not.
I’d love to post a 10.6_vanilla catalog for you, but the forum keeps telling me it is spam, so I cannot give you any better info. I’ll try to add a dropbox link if the forum will allow me to.
Good luck!
Nate
*edit* Here is an updated catalog file that Martin Neumann came up with on the instadmg mailing list. It looks to be pretty accurate:

ParticipantAm just running my full catalog with the 10.6.5 Combo Updater in it to make sure it will complete. Once done i’l post the result.

ParticipantJust a heads up, I edited this file after researching which updated were actually necessary. Don’t hate me, but you might want to run another build 🙂

ParticipantI can’t get anything to work at the minute. Something is not working when ejecting the temp files. Am just starting fresh with a new setup. The catalog passes but didn’t work when i went to process it but then nothing is so i’m not sure where the issue is.
Cheers

Reboot. I sometimes have issues with not being able to eject anything in the GUI and a reboot always fixes it. Perhaps your build machine is having other issues if a reboot doesn’t fix it?

ParticipantJust deleted all the caches, imported the OS disc again and rebooted. Am baking an OS and update catalog only which has gone past the point of no return so everything seems back on track. Sometimes it does strange things but it’s usually easy to fix and most of the time it’s my fault. I guess the more you put in a catalog the greater room for error.
Once i’m over this hurdle i’ll be looking at the firstboot stuff so I can have all the settings for the user accounts in the process. Seeing as we have LDAP and AD here i’m not sure how much I can or want to do with OD especially for the lab computers which will be locked down with Deep Freeze.

ParticipantWell that all worked. Now i’m trying one with everything in to make sure everything works. Fingers crossed.
