I can’t find where to do this either. I can disable Go to iDisk, but not the sidebar short cut.

I got the same issue. I had tried to open the base DMG and cancelled it… might of been related in my case. Reboot also fixed it.

This problem sucks! Now that I’ve got that off of my chest. . .
I read this thread and see many other people having the same issues with the PMU. I’m not actually having the issue on an XServe, it’s on a 1GHz G4 Powerbook that was just recently sent back to apple for a motherboard replacement because of this issue. It came back about 2 weeks later with the same issue, forced shutdowns by the PMU after sleep. Not sure where to go with this since the machine had a clean install of the OS (10.3.9) and now with new HW, it has the same problem. No FW drives, peripherals, or anything for that matter attached to this machine except the power supply sometimes when the problems occur. It happens when the user closes the lid to put the machine to sleep and then when he attempts to wake it up, it has shut itself down. Battery is almost always plenty full.

I thought I’d post this here to maybe help with the discussion since some people are pointing towards external devices and scsi cards as potential causes. Not saying they’d be wrong with that, just explaining that I have none of those external devices to cause the same issue on my end.

No, I want separate homes (and separate users) for each type of account. Help me a bit with the kerberos issue. I didn’t have to jump through any hoops to get my powerbook joined to the AD domain.

I have an AD domain at my office with many (many) windows machines and a small handfull of macs. My Mini was the first to do a full mobile home test and I can report that it works flawlessly. Our domain is set up to map home directory “H:” to \\server\profileshare in the AD Users and Groups control panel. Tiger just put my Mac home directory right there mixed in with the other windows stuff. So my terminal services profile is there mixed in with my normal Mac folders (Applications, Pictures, Movies, Library). It is actually amazing, and I’m loving it more every minute. I can use Microsoft’s Remote desktop to connect to a terminal server from the Mac, change files on that H drive and use the Mac finder to verify that they’ve come back to the mac round trip. There are syncing preferences that you can set as to the times and events that cause a home directory sync. It really *really* makes me want a powerbook now. Should note that this is a Windows 2003 active directory domain. Probably still Mixed mode, not native 2003.

yeah, i haven’t heard any feedback yet on the boards either. I’ll probably move ahead in a week or two if all stays calm. I’ll post any findings.

I had the same thing happen to me. Try turning on the SLP plugin in the Directory Access app if it’s not already on then restart. You don’t need to turn the service on within Server Settings but the plugin seems to want to be enabled, for what I dont know just yet. Hope this helps.

[quote:0b44dba830=”occkor”]Recently I rebooted my server because of network issues and when the server came up there were two problems. First was the SLP services was in an unknown state. After some research, no one seems to know why this happens. I was able to fix the problem by running:

    /usr/sbin/slpd -f /etc/slpsa.conf

at the terminal. If I reboot, the same thing happens.

Next problem was that the web server would not start. That is to say that from the Server Admin app the web server would start then stop and the same behavior trying to start from command line. Well, after checking a bit through the error logs and config files, I noticed that the httpd.conf file was 0 bytes! I had a good backup and replaced it and the server started fine. My question is this: What the heck happened? is this a known bug? are these issues related? I hope someone out there knows whats happening because Apple sure doesn’t (at leased the “engineers” i spoke with).
