Agreed. I am in the same boat. I would love to use Adobe’s supported methods. I feel it closer than it ever has been, but still falling a little short. I have essentially repackaged the install packages made with AAMEE with Composer and dropped them InstaDMG. I feel this is hack, but I have to do it if I want to use the same “workflow” as I do for every other package I deploy with InstaDMG.

    Greetings,

I was looking into thomasb’s suggestion up above and noticed when I download the iLife package I end up with the two files – a pkg and a dist. I have never used a .dist in my build train. Will this work?

    Thanks,

    Hi sumita.

Thanks for you reply. Just to give a little more detail to my post as well to help you understand. I am not deploying this package via ARD. I am putting it in the build train for InstaDMG. I have for sure made new packages with AAMEE and I am not using the original packages. I could maybe put a different destination in AAMEE when building the package, but at this point have just used the default. Have you tried this in InstaDMG and had it work?

    Thank you very much.

Thanks! I tried the rev266 build, but ran into the same problem? I also tried 277, but had other problems with that one. Can anyone verify this worked for them under a certain rev with iLife 9.0.4 on the building machine? Would it work for me to remove the receipts on the building machine to get around this?

Greetings! So I tried to make an InstallerChoices file from the MacOSXCombo10.6.3 update just for kicks. It didn’t give me anything useful and it’s not a mpkg so I don’t know if this would have worked anyway. Is anyone else seeing this problem?

    Thanks,

Thanks Allister. That worked perfect! I don’t know why I wasn’t thinking clearly on that. So to answer my previous question for others, I asked about installing only specific vendor print drivers. I got this to work by not installing any off the base os, but added the print packages from the Apple downloads page. I installed only HP, Canon and Gutenprint. It saved a substantial amount of room and so far I haven’t run into any problems. Hope that solution helps someone!

Let me pose this question? Anyone know how I can get rid of all printer support?

    I believe I tried

    PrinterDriversGroup

However that just added all of them. Would it work to put PrinterDriversGroup twice since I think this would be two clicks?
I also noticed it falls under “EssentialSystemSoftware” Would it hurt to put this in. It doesn’t appear that other things install besides printer within that key.

Let me know what you guys think!

    Thanks!

Do you think as a test that I could set one of the InstaDMG options to specifically to a certain scratch folder or output folder, then point Adobe to that same folder? Or create a specific named volume I could point the Adobe installer too? If so, what options might I change? I noticed -t, -o, n might be some possibilities? Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Steve

I was wondering about the Custom Install Location as well.
Just for kicks this AM, I tried the pkg in SIU and it failed there too.

    Shucks. Failed again.

This time it was off the dmg and adobe scripts unaltered (remained $3 in preflight)
However, I got slightly different error messages in the log:

./preinstall: Error : Unable to complete Silent workflow
    ./preinstall: Exit Code: 7
./preinstall: AAMEE Installer : Exit code of AdobeDeploymentManager is (127)

    I posted my specs before:

I am using 10.6.3 of my build machine.
My out images and I am installing 10.6, then running the 10.6.3 Combo
I am running 1.6b2 of InstaDMG
    .4b of InstaUp2Date

I am trying the dmg and setting the adobe install path back to $2.

    Thanks!

Same error here. Here is the latest echo statements:

    ./preinstall: –optXMLPath=/InstaDMG/InstallerFiles/InstaUp2DatePackages/photoshopcs5_Install.pkg/Contents/Resources/optionXML.xml
    ./preinstall: –setupBasePath=/InstaDMG/InstallerFiles/InstaUp2DatePackages/photoshopcs5_Install.pkg/Contents/Resources/
    ./preinstall: –installDirPath=/tmp/InstaDMG_temp_folder.EFlOzu/mount_point.sDv44w
    ./preinstall: –newinstallDirPath=/private/tmp/InstaDMG_temp_folder.EFlOzu/mount_point.sDv44w//tmp/InstaDMG_temp_folder.EFlOzu/mount_point.sDv44w

I looks like the $3 and $2 are almost duplicates just slightly different.

I just added some echo statements to the preinstall script. Maybe it will help us, but unless I’m not noticing something look ok?

    ./preinstall: –optXMLPath=/InstaDMG/InstallerFiles/InstaUp2DatePackages/photoshopcs5_Install.pkg/Contents/Resources/optionXML.xml
    ./preinstall: –setupBasePath=/InstaDMG/InstallerFiles/InstaUp2DatePackages/photoshopcs5_Install.pkg/Contents/Resources/
    ./preinstall: –installDirPath=/tmp/InstaDMG_temp_folder.8wCrG9/mount_point.J5YYZn

The changing to $3 didn’t work. I’m still thinking that maybe something in that line off the preinstall script can help. Otherwise, I don’t see where it could be unless it’s in the binary we can’t see.

Looking at the debug log leads me to further believe my previous post. Something in the back of my mind, I thought I remember being able to use an InstallerChoices.xmo for each package. Is this correct?
