ParticipantHi Steve and Steven,
AAMEE mac release has a known issue that installation of pkg would fail, for user logout scenario. However the fix is being taken up at high priority.
At present only deployment via SCCM and ARD, is supported. Behaviour with InstalDmg is not known.
Some common source of error that I can predict from posts can be (1) Deployment is done to a machine where no user is logged-in (2) User may not have access to Installation location (3) Conflicting process is running. Thanks,

ParticipantWe are well aware of how the AAMEE functions and have already read the documentation on the topic. We are trying to get it to work with InstaDMG specifically, not just install it on a machine as you normally would. Because the .pkg that the AAMEE spits out is not REALLY an apple package, it makes it extremely difficult to work with using InstaDMG as well as several other products that are out there.
Thanks for the input though.

ParticipantHi all,
To go along with the “it is not a true .pkg”. I am finding that I can not copy the file off the hard drive that it was created on. I have done a ls -l on all of my Adobe AAMEE created packages and they all show up as “directories” not files. So I am wondering if that is the reason, but not sure. Because it can copy some of it. However, I do find it insteresting that it thinks they are directories. Anyone else seeing that?To answer the question, yes, I had read all of the AAMEE documentation as well, diferent versions of it as well, because I noticed a major/massive change in the documentation over last weekend (it could have happened late on Friday).
Also Thru ARD these packages do seem to install correctly. However, we have found out that the uninstall package that is created as well, does not uninstall everything and leaves over 176MB’s of stuff. Including items under Utilities.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Alantrewartha,
I believe you are able to resolve the link issue by now and able to downloaded the tool.

ParticipantThey JUST released an updated version of the AAMEE that fixes the bug where someone must be logged in. I just ran a test on InstaDMG and it reported in the log (AAMEE did) that it installed successfully. I’ll report back after I get a chance to apply the image if it worked or not 🙂

ParticipantNope! Nothing in Applications related to dreamweaver. Oh well, it got my hopes up that it didn’t error out, but I should of known better then to think it would actually work 🙂

ParticipantHi Nate,
Snapshotting workflow is not supported by AAMEE as of now.

I’m not really interested in what Adobe says is supported or not, I’m more interested in what the AAMEE packages are capable of, which is why I try it. I am not snapshotting the install, I’m trying to use the AAMEE package directly with InstaDMG. I am currently building a snapshot package of CS5 + Acrobat 9 so I can install it using InstaDMG. I have done this many times with CS4 and now I am on my second build for CS5. Regardless of the fact that adobe does not support his method, I can confirm that not only does it work it works well, which cannot be said for Adobe’s “Supported” methods of installation. The whole point of InstaDMG is to make images that have never been booted and don’t require installs upon booting and Adobe’s methods of installing CS5 simply do not allow this. I’ve read over their documentation and I am well aware of what they would like me to do, but I find their suggestions unacceptable.

ParticipantAgreed. I am in the same boat. I would love to use Adobe’s supported methods. I feel it closer than it ever has been, but still falling a little short. I have essentially repackaged the install packages made with AAMEE with Composer and dropped them InstaDMG. I feel this is hack, but I have to do it if I want to use the same “workflow” as I do for every other package I deploy with InstaDMG.

ParticipantI have been able to successfully package both Adobe CS5 Master and premium suites using Composer 7.21 with the latest diff files and choosing preinstalled software.
Thanks

Participanthi all
I am having a similar problem with CS5 aswell. I can’t get it to work with an instadmg workflow or deploy studio either no matter what I try. it does say in the docs that it ONLY works with ard and I’m getting a strong feeling that without making a custom pkg installer and not using aamee it just won’t work. there is a payload breakdown in the docs that may be useful in creating a custom installer using apples package maker. i’ll have another go at an instadmg solution tomorrow but if it doesn’t work I’m looking at trying my hand with package maker. the aamee docs state very clearly that you cannot install CS5 if wrapped up in a dmg file so that’s out too… I am hell bent on putting CS5 into an instadmg or deploy studio workflow otherwise what is the point? the objective is after all to have a silent, one click imaging and deployment solution or something as close to it isn’t it and a component as big as this has to fit in right? Ive tried so far…In a very simple instadmg workflow without user account
in a simple instadmg with user account
in a deploy studio workflow post OS install but before rebooting
in a deploy studio workflow post OS but after rebootingand variations of these but nothing too fancy. the deploy stuff looks like it will work then gets stuck in a loop during the last percent of the install process.
keep you posted.

ParticipantThis is the only method that has worked reliably for me:
http://www.osxdeployment.info/wiki/CS5_Repackaging_Guide
I repackage it using Composer and put Acrobat as part of the package. This works great in a lab environment where every machine gets all the CS5 products.
