ParticipantI’m doing something wrong. I followed andyboutte directions from 2/4. InstaDMG installs the iLife’11 package on the root of the drive instead of installing the programs. If I double click on the iLife’11 package on the root it does fully install).
I think my Distribution file is wrong. I posted it here: http://pastebin.com/1VFxgNmY
Thanks for all your help

ParticipantDead2sin, I’m not sure how you got it to work. I installed iLife11 with all the updates opened Composer but I didn’t see it in pre-installed software. I updated the diff files but it didn’t show iLife11.
I confirmed with JAMF support that the diffs for iLife ’11 haven’t been released for Composer 8.
Andyboutte or anyone, any idea why your solution posted on 2/4 works with instaup2date but not regular instadmg?

ParticipantYes, I know the InstaDMG_package.log exists and sometimes use it to troubleshoot. The downside is it’s not easily readable or searchable as a using ARD text fields.

ParticipantI don’t know about preboot script. I run them as part of my firstboot script
Goldberg
ParticipantI do the same thing Nate does. Works great and of course is readable via ARD.
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteDesktop Text1 -string ‘Version 5.6’
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteDesktop Text2 -string ‘December 2010’Goldberg
ParticipantTry to run it as part of a first boot script

ParticipantThanks sgittlitz. I have the Provisioning Tool working for everything but turning off updates.

ParticipantTo answer my own question, a review of the error log found at /tmp/amt3.log showed an error related to the cache PCD file.
Upon further review, it appears that the Adobe PCD folder (with a cache folder and pcd.db inside it) is missing from /Library/Application Support/Adobe. Instadmg didn’t install it or for some reason.
As a workaround, I installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro on a test machine and made a package of the Adobe PCD folder. Seems to work perfectly for me. Adobe KB: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/834/cpsid_83481.html was a big help.

ParticipantThat worked! Thanks Nate!

ParticipantI’ve seen Sophos Anti-Virus cause a pop-up windows asking for System Events. That windows had a browse button that I can point to /System/Library/Core Services/
Hope that helps
Goldberg
ParticipantSystem Events is located in /System/Library/Core Services/
Goldberg
ParticipantThat’s an idea. So you have 24 folders just for iLife ’11? That’s crazy but I’ll try it.
Thanks!
Goldberg
ParticipantInteresting. larkost, how did you replace that file with a softlink to get things working with InstaDMG?
Thank you

ParticipantWe set the default mail app in Apple Mail and then used Composer to make a snapshot of the plist files. We had have the package install the plist files in the default user template so all users will get them. The files are:
/System/Library/User\ Template/English.lproj/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
/System/Library/User\ Template/English.lproj/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plistHope that help.
