Office 2011 – Here goes!

I just got my hands on Office 2011 and I am doing my first build using it in InstaDMG right now. I’ll report back later if there are any major changes as far as settings that need to be tweaked, etc.

I’ve never messed with preference manifests before, but I’ll check it out Tomorrow.

I used the mdfind command and came up empty. Where are these files normally stored? Within the Word.app itself or elsewhere?

Has anyone seen how to set the ownership info centrally, like you could with OfficePID.plist in Office 2008? I’ve started testing this in my environment, and it looks like it’s asking for the personalization information on a per-user basis.

I have seen no evidence of preference manifests.

As for customization, it does seem per-user. I think I’ve seen settings carry over even after I’ve removed all plist and settings files, so I’m not sure what’s going on there yet.

This is what I came up with:

The OfficePID.plist went away and it is all done in ~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.office.plist now (Thankfully!).
