Quote by: MacTroll[p]So… more information is needed here.

1. You’re connecting from the PCs via SMB?

yes

2. Anything in the SMB server logs?

hmmm

3. Can you authenticate as AD users directly on the server itself?

no we simply bound the directory utility to ad to get the users and groups for share access we don’t want them as full users.
Quote by: macinandy[p]Are you saying you want to export the AD users out to LDIF file then import them into OD and ditch AD ?[/p]
well it’s an option, if the ad od golden triangle continues to cause trouble

So on the client side they would still have AD set up in Directory access as well as OD ?

can we not. Just use OD and pull all the details from AD ?
Quote by: fuigo[p]Thanks for helping out!

My IT department is psyched as it learns each day what wonderful things that Mac OS X Leopard Server could offer right out of the box. There are talks of running a simply OS X server now and using the AD to administer only the task-specific PCs at work!

Is there any obvious downside of running mainly Macs?[/p]
It can only be positive
Quote by: MacTroll[p]By 16 domains you’re referring to DNS domains?

If so, you’re probably best off doing the zone files by hand. At least you’ll know what’s going on with them.[/p]
YES 16 DIFFERENT DOMAINS

Strangely they have added to the administrators groups
staff gid 20
admin gid 80

not sure how they got admin in there when
Administrator gid 80 is also there..

I can’t seem to delete these from the groups section of the admin account…
all seems to working OK though now after a restart….

All also showed nothing !
I did use disk utility to no availe, but thought it might sort system critical issues and I risked a restart thinking that
it may sort it’s self out on a restart and guess what it did, all shares lost but the main disk appear in ALL mening I can rebuild the structure again.

[email protected]
RCPT TO:
Received: 554 : Relay access denied

more config stuff that may be relevent…

enable_server_options = yes
smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes
smtpd_use_pw_server = yes
smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated,permit_mynetworks,reject_unauth_destination,permit

I’m not trying to relay meerly send an email…. ???

Hmm Ok it had this line in it….
#smtpd_client_restrictions = permit_mynetworks sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org permit

Once commented out all was OK, OS X mail now sends and recieves..but what was that doing in there ???

in reply to: Wierd Mail problem #369382

actually the main warning seems to be

postfix/smtpd[4534]: warning: unknown smtpd restriction: “sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org”

The mail client says (OS X Mail)

The server response was: Server configuration error

very strange I do not even have sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org enabled in filters. 😕
