    Looks like a command line install with ‘-target /’ works just fine. While it’s extracting, all of the files (in the sandbox) are in Root, but when they are shoved into place they go to the right place. So this appears to be a flaw in installer when using a target other than /, where it’s not processing the customLocation attribute correctly.

    I don’t suppose anyone has a copy of the installer source code (or a pointer to it) handy?

    I’m having the same failure with the latest Subversion release of InstaDMG and Xcode 3.2.2 + iPhone SDK 3.2. Very cryptic.

    That’s great! Thank you so much for the help, Allister. It looks like the 1.0.3 createUser version is working perfectly for me. And a little more digging found the answer to the problem with Office Updates that I was having as well.

    At this rate, I’m going to have our new deployment image locked down in the next week. InstaDMG is saving me easily a hundred hours of work at this point.
