I’d recommend taking a look at kerio connect, and sharing the address book via this product.

You can either user the built in address book or Outlook for Mac/ PC.

I’ve personally used this successfully with 15 machines access the same address book.

    http://www.kerio.com

    Thanks

After spending a bit of timing reading the samba documentation, plus using smbstatus in the commandline. I’m pretty sure the Guest user is showing the locked file info on files opened on the server.

Anyone know why it comes up as guest and not the user account or is one of those undocumented feature.

I have the exact same problem on my server I’ve tried Magus255 suggestion but no luck.

If I add a new group and make it available to the wiki it shows us fine, at the moment I can go to the wiki by manually typing in the address.

I will also try the 10.5.6 update this weekend but I see no mention of any wiki fixes.

    The Wonders of System Updates.

10.5.5 Server Update Resolves almost all the VPN problems I’ve been having.

The Windows users can now connect to the VPN and mount the server mounts the local wiki on the vpn server is also available.

These two things before the update failed to work.

    The bad news……

We have an SQL Database on another server in the office which we can ping but cannot access still with 10.5.5 VPN Services, it works fine with 10.4.11 VPN Services so for now switching back to 10.4.11 VPN Services.

This is starting to get a little silly now.

    Hi MacTroll,

Under LDAP v3/127.0.0.1 I see no vpn_blahblah on the two servers, I have another server which does work and I can see 3 x vpn_blahblahblah and this one works fine.

Will I have to kill the OD to get the vpn user back ?

Thanks for your input as usual.

    Good News

After switching the clients to 128 bit only, I’ve had no need to restart the VPN Services.

    Thanks for the tip.

I’ve set the client to link in using 128bit only.

So far so good but how could you see that the client machine was trying to connect in via 40bit not 128bit ?

Again thank you for your time.

To keep the service up and running a bit longer I had extended the range 🙂

But I believe I have resolved the problem I deleted the com.apple.RemoteAccess.plist file, then dropped the range down to just 10 IP’s which has been working a treat.

Looking at the logs I could see nothing strange.

    Thanks

Hi I have tried out Stalkers Communigate Pro and the shared calendar works really well with iCal and you can install a mapi module to support Outlook on the PC. The PC Users wont notice a difference from what I have seen, you can download a demo version from http://www.stalker.com

Ok as you can see from my post I’m in the deep end I have never used LDAP before so I’m learning as I’m going. I sort of understand what going on here but when I saw the listing in the LDAP browser I got totally lost.

I have enclosed the output file below what do I want from this output I’m totally lost at sea.

If I have time I’m going to buy a book on LDAP any suggestions. I have to get this bloody address book working. I could use Entourage but the mac users want to the Apple Mail application, which I want to be able to give them.

    Thanks

Sorry guys I’m still banging my head against the wall at the moment : (

First of all thanks for the help.

When I select Active Directory a window popped up asking for search base suffix I left this blank.

I then went into the address book and added a ldap server and left the search base blank again.

Now if I do a search now I can see the system users ie batch anonymous and proxy up if I do a search with nothing in the search base in the address book.

I tried using the default search base ou=people,o=company but this does not find anything at all.

    Any ideas

Sorry stupid question time how do I set this up in Directory Access too many options not to sure if I should be going into LDAPv2 or LDAPv3, or into the authentication tab.

    Thanks
