ParticipantHi
I’m trying to get the built-in OSX 10.2 address book to work with MS exchange so it can grab the addresses from the server using AD.
I can get MS Entourage X to work if I setup the Directory Services and change the port number to 3268.
I have tried with a NT 4 server and a windows 2000 server both times Entourage works but not the built-in Address book.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Participant😀
Sorry stupid question time how do I set this up in Directory Access too many options not to sure if I should be going into LDAPv2 or LDAPv3, or into the authentication tab.
Thanks

ParticipantDirectory Access => Services Tab
Check LDAPv3 and click the Configure button
Click the arrow to the left of Show Options
Click New
Give this a configartion. This can be anything like Exchange Address Book
Put the Server Name or IP address in the next column
LDAP Mappings change to Active Directory.
Uncheck Use DHCP-supplied LDAP server at the top (if you want to, I do)
Click OK
Click ApplyContacts Tab
Search > Custom Path
click Add
Your newly added ldap server should be in the Available Directories
Double click on it to add it
Click ApplyReboot for the changes to take effect

ParticipantFirst of all thanks for the help.
When I select Active Directory a window popped up asking for search base suffix I left this blank.
I then went into the address book and added a ldap server and left the search base blank again.
Now if I do a search now I can see the system users ie batch anonymous and proxy up if I do a search with nothing in the search base in the address book.
I tried using the default search base ou=people,o=company but this does not find anything at all.
Any ideas

Help

ParticipantThat’s about as much as I can help. The PC’s where I work are all in one department with there own subnet that I don’t have to worry about. I only have one that’s barely used so I didn’t think it was worth figuring all the Windows/OS X intergration stuff.

ParticipantOk as you can see from my post I’m in the deep end I have never used LDAP before so I’m learning as I’m going. I sort of understand what going on here but when I saw the listing in the LDAP browser I got totally lost.
I have enclosed the output file below what do I want from this output I’m totally lost at sea.
If I have time I’m going to buy a book on LDAP any suggestions. I have to get this bloody address book working. I could use Entourage but the mac users want to the Apple Mail application, which I want to be able to give them.
Thanks
