ParticipantHere are my Catalogs that worked
10.6_Vanilla http://pastebin.com/qq2pzFQR
iLife with Updates http://pastebin.com/EQ90D68uIt gets installed with vanilla and then reinstalled after iLife installs…I’m not sure but you can probably comment out the vanilla one…

ParticipantI’d try a build with the 10.6.3 disc. From what I’ve read in other posts and such it seems like a 10.6.3 is recommended. I’d been building with a 10.6 disk as well but I ran into some new computers and such that wouldn’t boot with a 10.6 disc so I finally made the switch to 10.6.3

ParticipantPost your logs and let us look through them. Also which Install disc are your running from? 10.6 or 10.6.3? I also made a switch from a 10.6 install disc to 10.6.3. not sure if that would affect it much it might!
Edit:
Other things i did was completely delete instadmg. Checked out a fresh version from svn. Re-imported Install disc. Also Re-checked sum my iLife package and the update package. Might help…ndpete
ParticipantInteresting…I have a script that I run completely separate from Insta-DMG. The script sets a machine up for a user. It gets their names and such sets their user account up and installs sophos. I’ve gotten the same error the first time i log into the new account. I always thought it was from creating the account funny. I’d always push cancel and everything thing worked fine. I’m testing now to see if it is actually sophos that’s creating the problem.
Update:
Yeah So it is Sophos haha. In my case I’m just installing it from the command line on a live system…I’d always pressed cancel and it seemed to work ok…Hopefully they release an update soon.Update #2:
If it helps…I just found out that if I create the user account and then log into it at least once when I run the sophos install I don’t get prompted for the the system events.ndpete
ParticipantI had a catalog that first ran the Vanilla catalog then it installed iLife.mpkg then right after that it installed the iLife Support 9.04 update then it installed the rest of iLife updates.

ParticipantFunny how it just affected the iLife Support update.

ParticipantI’ve finally built a successful build. In which the update was applied as it was supposed to. I probably need to run another test or two but I think I know what was causing the issue. I try to build my images with my Xserve, with the internal raid It was my fastest solution. The build I just did that worked I ran from a Clean Macbook install with a firewire external for scratch. No cache and it took FOREVER but the build had the iLife Update applied. 🙁 Must be something with the xserve that instadmg didn’t like…or possible just 10.6.5 server that created the conflict..sigh 🙁 well looks like I’ll have to get used to 4 hour builds…. haha Thanks for the help…

Like I said before, you have a different version of iLife 09 or you do not have iLife 09 even installed.[/p]
Which iLife09 package are you running? I have the same issue. Here is sha1 of my package: sha1:d21feae38398b52b982a5586ba0b1168534343ce
Is it just this package that has issues? Why did it work and then just not work?
I’m waiting for a build to finish and give it another test.

ParticipantI’ve got one more idea before I give up 🙂 haha I’ll run this last try today and see if it fixes it. Only problem is it will probably take a while to build. Wish me luck. If this doesn’t work then I’ll start posting my info. Basically what I’m gonna do is on a separate system I’m just gonna start from scratch. I say it will take a while cause the machine isn’t very powerful and unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to run it with a scratch disk. Oh well wish me luck.

ParticipantI’ve never seen a problem with the iLifeSlideshow. I Don’t really understand Allister’s post…Haha I’ve read it 3 or 4 times now 🙂 I think I’m tired seems like everything is deciding to break these last few days at work….
My problem is the iLife support 9.04 update it’s self. I’ve tried 6-7 different build trains trying to get it to work and nothing has fixed it. It is driving me nuts cause I deployed several machines about 2 weeks ago and that build didn’t have this issue. Now all of a sudden it’s not installing the update.
I’m trying one last build. If this doesn’t help than honestly I have no clue what to do differently. I’ve tried everything I can think of in about every possible order. I’ll just give up and find some other solution to deploy iLife to my images…

ParticipantDeployStudio is what we use for the mac’s in my organization. It works great. I once did a lab of about 30 eMacs in about 30min’s I had a few issues with a couple of machines afterwards but I figured it was from bad wiring in the room. I couldn’t even get a few of the machines to netboot. In your situation with a private network, a gigabit switch and if your running cat6 to each machine It should go pretty quick. Also we’ve got our system set up so you can run deploystudio from a regular client install of Mac OS X. So I just plug my laptop into the switch netboot all the machines from my laptop and send them off imaging.

ParticipantI’ve played around a bit with scratch disks. Here’s what I’ve found.
I’ve built images on my laptop with a single 5400rpm drive (Takes forever! 3-4 hours) Tried it with a USB external and only knock off a half hour. Tried it with a Firewire400 external and the time was about the same. Finally the method I use now that I’ve had good success is I get everything ready on my laptop then I send the instaDMG folder to my xserve that has a raid 1 array on it and use a folder on the raid for a scratch it about 2 and half hours faster than using my usb external. It’d probably be even faster if it was a raid 0. So if I have a base cache then on my xserve it only takes about an hour. Sometimes less sometimes more depending on the specific build.ndpete
ParticipantI had a build for 10.6.4 that had iLife 09 working just fine. When I switched in the Combo update for 10.6.5 is when I saw that iLife 09 Support was dropped. I hadn’t made any changes to the order of the install. I’ve verified and the 9.04 Is installed after the iLife09 Package. Maybe its just being goofy so I’m trying it again just to make sure.
Update:
Ran a new build and made sure the iLife 9.04 Update came after the iLife install and it still didn’t get applied. I’m running a new build with a different catalog scheme to see if it fixes it. If it doesn’t I’ll re-run the build with the 10.6.4 Combo update instead and see if it still doesn’t apply the update.Update #2:
New catalog scheme failed to make the update worked. Check in my package.log and The update is applied with 10.6_Vanilla. Then later iLife09 is installed and then when the iLifeUpdates run it installs iLife904 again thus “fixing” what the iLife install messes up. It still doesn’t work. This same scheme used to work just fine when I was building 10.6.4 images…any ideas?Note (not really related): The old 10.6_Vanilla catalog has the Remote Desktop 3.3.2 the new one doesn’t. After restore I was prompted for that update as well…I’ve since added that update to my build…

ParticipantHey, I’m pretty new to instaDMG and have been lurking on the forums for awhile. I’ve noticed this same issue. I’ve built several 10.6.4 images just fine but on my 10.6.5 I just tested iLife Support 9.04 doesn’t work. Anyone found the fix? -Ndpete
