ParticipantThanks for the suggestions, Jono! The current questions and answers section of the Web site will be signficantly changed in the redesign–it will switch to more of a FAQ style, since the Q&A forum on the eBBS seems to work much better.

ParticipantThanks for the thread pointer. Were you experiencing the held-over serveradmind, or the non-starting serversettingsd?
On our Server, serversettingsd [i:7c18117526]is[/i:7c18117526] daemonized:
[code:1:7c18117526]root 378 373 373 2f4e198 0 S ?? 22:19.09 serversettingsd -x[/code:1:7c18117526](output from [b:7c18117526]ps ahjx[/b:7c18117526]) and I would expect the same to be the case with you.Out of curiosity, did you upgrade from 10.1.x to 10.2, or is your installation a fresh 10.2? Does your [b:7c18117526]/etc/watchdog.conf[/b:7c18117526] file contain the following line?[code:1:7c18117526]ssd:respawn:/usr/sbin/serversettingsd -x # Server Settings service[/code:1:7c18117526]

ParticipantWhat happens when you enter the FQDN of the server in the connection dialog, then supply your Admin username and password?

ParticipantUnfortunately, I’m not certain what version of Berkeley DB Apple ships. I imagine it is 3.2. Regardless–if you don’t have other applications that rely on Berkeley DB (like, for example, pop-before-smtp), you should be okay to go ahead and install Berkeley DB again. Make sure to have it symlinked into a place where the system can find it and you should be okay.

ParticipantHow did you find the transition? Have your users noticed the change at all?
Admin
ParticipantHave you modified your Server from the default installation? Do you have the latest Developer Tools installed?
The -ldb portion of the error leads me to suspect a problem with Berkeley DB, but it’s difficult to say for certain without more information from you.

ParticipantWhat wouldn’t we like to know? 🙂
Seriously, we’re looking for a comprehensive review of the XServe–its technology, hardware, operating history, remote administration, etc.
Anything you can tell us would be welcome. If you have more questions, please write me directly and I’ll be happy to do what I can do respond.

ParticipantThanks for the feedback! I assume you mean the Questions and Answers forum…? If so, once some more material has been posted, I’ll give it a look-over and see how things fall into place.
If you meant something else, please drop me a line ([email protected]) and let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
