Participant
Quote by: MacTroll[p]I find it hard to believe that Outlook does not do md5 encryption for IMAP. It’s been a while since I’ve set this up, but I swear I’ve set up Outlook on a PC with md5 encryption.
Either way, how about you just wrap your connection in SSL and then not worry so much about the password type?

The authentication problem is what’s killing me. This is PLAIN smtp auth on the server. on the clients (apple mail.app and evolution on linux work) the authentication is set to password or PLAIN (evolution.) In outlook, it’s set to use the same information for recieving email. In thunderbird on windows, it’s set to use authentication, and ssl is not marked.[/p]
Today my brother told me about an interesting tool,as he said, the tool solved a problem with corrupted mails in his MS Outlook for seconds and absolutely free – how to split and recover the data from pst file. At first I didn’t remember, but some hours ago I used it and the tool restored all my old damaged emails. I am very glad to work with the nice tool.November 27, 2009 at 4:21 pm in reply to: outlook 2003 and 10.4.2 server / relay and plain smtp auth #377574zlatan24
