I got the ‘server does not exist’ message when I told it not to use a secure connection (I was doing some testing) – it went away when I turned that back on. Otherwise, maybe check what it’s trying to connect to and ping that address from the machine, make sure it’s working. If you’re referring to it by DNS name, try the IP instead or try the localhost IP if you’re on the server, might help diagnose it!

Cheers guys. However I’ve already deleted the Managed Preferences and it made no difference. Does anyone know where the Disable Clear Text Passwords setting is stored on the server? Not the one for the server directory binding, but the one from the Open Directory settings? I’d rather turn it on for the server than turn it off on the clients you see!

Hmm, we’re having this issue too after a server rebuild. Users can login and connect fine, then after they’ve been working for a while, accessing the network shares with no problems, all of a sudden it’ll beachball when they try to save and it’ll say ‘Connection Failed 32’ or words of that nature. If I look in AFP, often they have multiple connections listed, and they all say ‘Disabled/Asleep’. If I disconnect those, it kicks them off the share and if they try to reconnect it just hangs. If I do nothing, it just hangs. I could turn off Kerberos, but then of course we lose the benefits of it. Anyone got any ideas?
