Participantnope it didn’t work for me, I did the following on mytest G5:
Installed OSX 10.4
config AD bind and ran dsconfigad -enablesso as root didn’t work
then logged in as a AD user with admin rights and tried the same command again and still not working.then upgraded to 10.4.2
and still not working.
reinstalling for the 3rd time but this time I’m going to try 10.4 then upgrade to 10.4.2 then configure and see if I can get the same results as yourself

ParticipantHi,
it seems loads of people are having the same problems including myself, a little off topic but I was setting up a pure OD server and had loads of issues getting it to work but in one of my last ditch attempts i reinstalled and configured the server with out doing any updates and it worked stright away.
Then I did the software updates and it remained working, i find it odd that if you install the server software and run the updates stright away you can’t get what you want working first thing and when you config it first and then update it stays working. I wonder that the changes are….
Back on track again, I’m going to reinstall my server again and this time do the config before the update and if it works i’m going to kick myself wondering why it is working.

ParticipantI figured it out, all I did was turn on AFP Service in Server Admin Tool and logged on straight away.
nice.
Some of these guides need updating as us newbies tend to followit word for word.
Any way lets see if the disk and print quota is working, probably not knowing OS X and most likly a hard code solution is required.

ParticipantI have got the same problem but I’m still searching if I figure it out I will let you know.

I was in the shower this morning (not that you needed to know that, but it’s where i do all my best thinking) and I thought something along those lines.
I’ll do a bit of experimentation next week and post the results.

Fair enough, and as I said I’ve got it running nicely. But surely there are alternatives!

Participant4 Days of nothing. Am I the only one using a serial connection to anything?

ParticipantI know someone who backs up their XSAN to… another XSAN!
They then archive off onto DLT tapes as and when needed (I think it’s an HP or Dell 6 disk loader).
They have a bit of cash though.

ParticipantAaaahhh, right. I can’t set it to REJECT as my boss is scared about losing mail to false positives.
Anyway, my immediate problem is solved. Many, many thanks and I’ve learned, always a good thing

ParticipantOK, so I stopped and started the mail service but the mail isn’t blocked, it’s just tagged as junk mail. This is OK as at least that address is now being tagged, but if you get it blocked and I don’t, what is different..?
woodgie
ParticipantThanks guv.
Actually, all I did was $sudo postfix reload. I’ll try a service stop/start now.
If I wanted to add the individual eMail addresses directly in amavisd.conf where would I put them? I tried in the section:
$blacklist_sender_re = new_RE(
qr’^(bulkmail|offers|cheapbenefits|earnmoney|foryou|greatcasino)@’i,
qr’^(investments|lose_weight_today|market.alert|money2you|MyGreenCard)@’i,
qr’^(new\.tld\.registry|opt-out|opt-in|optin|saveonlsmoking2002k)@’i,
qr’^(specialoffer|specialoffers|stockalert|stopsnoring|wantsome)@’i,
qr’^(workathome|yesitsfree|your_friend|greatoffers)@’i,
qr’^(inkjetplanet|marketopt|MakeMoney)\d*@’i,
qr’^’i #I added this one
);Obviously I didn’t really put “”, I used a valid eMail address, but it’s still getting through. I well realise that my ‘qr’ statement may well be wrong. But I copied it from your whitelist example

ParticipantWhere is it set that the eMail accounts the SpamAssasin cron job looks at are called ‘junkmail’ and ‘notjunkmail’ and is it a good idea to change this if you can?
It was noted somewhere else (I forget where I read it) that ‘junkmail’ and ‘notjunkmail’ might be open to abuse as spammers can send to ‘notjunkmail’ first to teach SA bad habits.
I have so many damned questions, and the Apple manuals are simplistic to the point of torture!

ParticipantI’ll take that as a no then…

Participant
I agree it would be great if someone has been able to get sieve working on a fresh 10.4 install to outline what is needed. It’s the only thing holding me back from moving over to it!
Or possibly the other alternitave…
Has anyone found software out there that does the same as sieve, but works with 10.4? I really only need out of office replies with ‘only reply once to each eMail address’ functionality (have you SEEN the mess a loop can set up? 73,000 eMails this weekend alone!)
woodgie
ParticipantIs there any indication when this will be fixed for Tiger Server? (and is it a Tiger problem, a Sieve problem or 6 of one and half a dozen of the other problem?) I have a Tiger Mail system all ready to roll out. The only thing holding it up is the lack of Out of Office replies.
Or have I got this wrong? Is there a built in method for OORs in Tiger that I can’t find and Sieve is merely a more flexible roll-your-own solution that people use?
I’m sorry if this is going over old ground, but I’m a bit confuzzzzzed
