I’m also looking for a way to do this. I was heartened by the directory access app, which has a tab in the NetInfo configuration called “Contacts”… It seems that along with Address book we should be able to set up network shared contacts… I have _really_ novice users who wouldn’t be too keen on having to learn a new app just after I’ve gotten them used to using Address book.. Has anybody posted anything like this to the Apple Discussion forums?
