ParticipantHey,
What I have done is you set up a normal account through OD on the server. After binding the local workstation, you login to the user to create the local account and then login to a different admin user on the computer and than promote the OD user to an admin through the accounts pane in system preferences. This will allow the user to administer the local machine which is recommended for Final Cut Pro but not administer the server.Max Roper

ParticipantWhat sample rate are you looking at recording? How many simultaneous tracks do you want to record? Xsan can be scaled to fit pretty much any bandwidth need and used for content storage mostly, but might introduce too much latency for using it with Logic (like is the case with ProTools). Funny enough, we have a project we’re working on right now and should be able to test this within the next couple of weeks and post an article on this shortly after that.

ParticipantWe have encountered these same issues with backing up Xsan volumes using all Veritas products. One workaround was to backup over SMB rather than using the built-in Veritas software, but we still ended up seeing similar issues, especially with Quark files. As a Symantec partner, we contacted support and Symantec claimed not to support Xsan.
Just an FYI,

ParticipantAre you getting any errors in the system.log when the system boots or attempts to mount the volume? Can you see all of the targets in your Fibre Channel listing for Apple System Profiler? Are you using local hosts files or DNS for the systems to be able to find one another on the SAN? Are you using Xsan Admin from a MDC or from the local workstation to attempt to mount the client? Are there any differences in the /Library/FileSystems/Xsan/config directories between a working host and a non-working host? Is it running 1.4.1 or 1.4?
Hopefully with these questions you might find the cause or provide more info for us to help you find the cause.
Thanks,
Max Roper
