I usually use port 2025. Easy to remember.

I tried the cyradm command reconstruct user/username/mailbox. It flipped right to the next command prompt. No love.

Just got 10.3.8 working. I’m not touching 10.4 until it’s a bit more mature. And until I have to.

I was wondering if this process was the same if one has the setup from the Updated Spam/Virus Filtering article here. (ie amavisd-new, spamassassin, clamav, running on 10.3.8 Server)

Reviewing the article, there was a bit with getting a perl module for clamav. Does anyone know if that needs to be updated as well? One hopes not; I seem to recall that CPAN wasn’t working too well on that machine…

I’ll give it a shot. It’s now running all the time (with the machine being rebooted) even though the server is turned off! Neutral

OK, now it’s running a backup every minute. Of its own volition. I even deleted the scheduler and the job! I had to stop the server to kill it off. When I start the server up again, even without the scheduler and job, it keeps running it!

Well, it’s hard to beat the Exabyte prices, but I’m uncertain on their reliability (or viability as a company). I’d be looking at Overland Data, HP, or Breece Hill (not sure on the last one).

I’m cautiously optimistic on BRU, but Retrospect 6 is pretty darn proven and fairly easy to operate. If you can get BRU working, then it would be an excellent choice. I’ve had a few problems with it, which I’m not getting into (since the last time I vented, it made it back to the author of the program, and I felt pretty bad…)

Surely there’s a better answer than 777? Has anyone discovered anything?

From what I’ve seen, if the userid matches an existing shortname, it gains that shortname’s privileges. However, that massively defeats the advantage of having the mysql backend; namely that the user data doesn’t have to be in NetInfo or Open Directory! With this mechanism, you’d have to enter the info twice! Is there a better way to do this?
