The DS based authentication (ard_admin group and so on..) actually works. What didn’t work was the “Directory Service Scanner” in ARD.
I sent this in as a bug to Apple and predictably got “Works as intended.” in return.

Turns out that the “Directory Service Scanner” is not a scanner at all, but actually a filter to use on top of the “All Computers” list.
One can discuss the aptness of calling it a scanner then…

I’ll look into finding another way of populating the ARD lists from OD. The filter is of little use.

I’m having the same problem when I try to make any modifications to the OD from a client. Authorization won’t work (-14102, eDSAuthNoAuthServerFound).
There are no problems doing the same thing from the OD master itself.

In other words: bump.

Can’t help you, but I’m having the exact same problems with my 10.4.10 install.

So this is more of a bump, any help would be appreciated!
