    tha’ts what we wound up doing; switching the port on the switch from spanning tree to portfast

    spanning tree was enabled on the port that the server was connected to on the switch. disabling it seems to have fixed the issue.

    Via the GUI in the services section (sorry I can’t be more specific, it was a few weeks ago, and I am not the admin of that box.)

    I do not believe that the loss of connectivity is due to Rendezvous, rather that when it was on, it’s periodic broadcasts were keeping the machine online. It was turned off via the gui, yes.

    rendezvous broadcasts UDP packets (port 5353 I believe,) and isn’t really meant to go across any routing, otherwise you could very easily see a broadcast storm that in a network of any real size could become quite a headache (as well as making your routers and switches run their procs up really high pretty quickly.)
