MacTech Special Events

The Tesla Experience

MacTech Conference has always been all about the experience. And, this year is no different. We want you to experience new things, admire the awesomeness of other people’s work, and be able to discuss that with your fellow tech. An amazing example is Tesla — not just the product, but the entire experience you have with them. Tesla will be on hand at MacTech Conference, and will be conducting several test drives per hour.

What’s the catch? There really isn’t one. You need to give some info and get briefed before you test drive, and then you are off and driving. More details to come — and the time slot reservation system will go online as we get closer to the event.

Fine print: While there’s a large number of test drives allotted, there is a limited number of slots available. Only one test drive per person.

To drive, you must be a registered MacTech Conference 2013 attendee, 25 or older, with a valid U.S. or International driver’s license.

Tesla will be asking you for some personal information (e.g., contact) and ask you to sign a drive waiver.

Take the Captain’s Chair

During the first day of MacTech Conference, New Starship will have the center section from USS Enterprise-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation on display. Sit in Jean Luc Picard’s, Riker’s or Troi’s chair. Feel what it’s like to sit at Ops or Con. Get a picture of yourself. Or, form a “crew” and take a group picture.

But it’s more than that. New Starship is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation created to restore one of the Paramount-created sets from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Their aim is to make the bridge a fully-interactive educational simulation of the USS Enterprise-D. You’ll have an opportunity to talk to the CTO behind this project, as well as the CEO of NewStarship.com. You may even choose to get involved in the project.

Conference Activities Throughout the Day and into the Evening

MacTech Conference is not only about learning, but about forming relationships and building networks. MacTech is known for conference activities that not only give you an opportunity to spend time with your peers, but help you get to know new people and expand your network. As an immersive conference, we’ll have you busy from morning until night … literally.

Bottom line? Just make sure to keep your Wednesday and Thursday evenings open.

What’s new this year? New Venue. Expanded Schedule. Pre-Conference Workshops. More Sessions. More Labs. More Certifications. New Vendor Forums. This year’s event has an expanded schedule with more time for even more sessions, new and expanded labs, more peer networking opportunities, additional accreditations, and optional pre-conference workshops. Our new Pre-Conference Workshops and the acclaimed Microsoft Office for Mac Accreditation Courses take place on Tue, November 5, 2013.And the core of the event: the sessions? It’s better than ever! Great speakers. Awesome, timely topics for both IT and Devs. There’s a whole lot more industry leaders, sessions, and even surprise speakers coming. MacTech Conference 2013 will be three full days — this year, we’re adding a half day of content on the last day, and we’ll end by 5pm on Friday. Not to mention our widely talked about evening events. And, we’re really excited about our new venue: The Manhattan Beach Marriott. It’s a beautiful venue, much closer to LAX, overlooks a golf course, and is an even better deal on guest rooms. As it did last year, the discounted guest room block is expected to sell out, so don’t wait (you must be registered for MacTech Conference to reserve). Register by October 31st, and save $300 on Pre-Registration Pricing!
