I have not found a cause or solution, only the workaround of re-entering the (same) password for the user in the directory server, at which point it works fine. After a couple of weeks it hasn’t “forgotten” anyone’s password.
Interesting that you also have Final Cut Server; maybe it’s a bug with how it handles authentication then, since no one here seems to have seen it with other apps. I’ll file it with Apple (you could too).
