    I am in the same situation. What I found out after long hours of trial and error that the sleds are identical as long as they are SATA ADMS not SAS ADMS. The gotcha on the new ones is if the drive installed runs on 3GB/s on the Intel XServes instead of the 1.5GB/s on the G5 Xserve. A lot of HD’s have the ability to be changed to 1.5GB/s by setting a jumper on the drive. Once you do that the drive will work with no issues on the XServe G5. Hope this helps you out.
