ParticipantThanks for the notice on best practices when it comes to instadmg / chroot / building on a non production machine. Didn’t even think about it until you put it in those terms. I’ll see if I can use another machine to build from now on, but not having the convenience of DeployStudio with it’s package repository / NetBoot sets on the same box as instadmg does make it a little more of a pain to build now.

ParticipantYou can add Wellesley College to the list. I love using instadmg for my initial creation of images to save me a ton of time and allowing me to create an image for each unique situation that requires it, instead of trying to manage a small number of goliath images that becomes way too cumbersome and messy.
Of course I just opened my eyes and saw that you were looking for names for macworld 2010, not thinking that it already happened. Really need my coffee right now

ParticipantAdd me to the list to someone who is also trying to figure it out. I’m doing a manual install but it be great if I could get it onto the image.

ParticipantSomething I just thought about that could be the issue / cause funny problems.
If I ran instadmg off a 10.6 Server box (faster processing, hopefully faster image building), but used 10.6 client DVD to build inside of instadmg, would that cause weird issues to arise?

ParticipantI did not pre create any users or use any scripts to pre create any users. It’s just as if the computer is ignoring the User Templates folder all together. Maybe I should try to fix permissions on the created DMG before I image?
I’ll use Disk Utility and try another image and see what goes down.
