Thanks for the help. That did it. I was trying to do the opposite. I was trying add the local user to that OD group, which it would not let me do. I don’t understand why it matters which way but I won’t argue with success.

    Hallelujah!!! 😀

I’ve been fighting with this problem for months and it has been driving me nuts. I owe you an adult beverage of your choice.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure I understand the question. It is being mounted automagically based on WGM settings I guess.

I haven’t played with tcpdump before so I need to do some research on it.

After more testing I have determined this is not a preferences issue. Rather it is an issue related to OD mounted home directories on a Leopard client vs. a Tiger client. I created a new user and logged on from a Leopard client and experienced the same problem even before any preferences were created.

In addition, it turns out that Safari did not really hang. After a full 1 1/2 minutes of bouncing on the dock, it will finally bring up the home page. With a locally mounted home directory this is not a problem. It only happens with an OD mounted home directory from a Tiger server (we don’t have any Leopard serves yet so I don’t know what will happen there). TIA.

If this question is better suited for the OD forum please let me know and I’ll cross post it.

One additional piece of information. I destroyed the Kerberos ticket and when I did a get mail, it still used the master for the POP principal. This is obviously the problem. Why is it not getting the POP principal for the slave since that is what OD now says is that user’s mail server?

Thanks but I guess I must have something wrong. I’ll skip adding the second user for the moment to KIS. I changed the mail server on the mail tab of WGM to point to the slave. I then created a 2nd account in Applemail for the slave on my client. Nothing changed. I still get the same error trying to get mail from the slave and get NO error from the master where I expected one. Do I need to change something, somewhere else?

“I see,” said the blind man as he picked up a hammer and saw. So I have to change the individual user in WGM to use one or the other at any given time? The reason being not a function of Applemail but rather a function of OD authentication. Supposed I create a non-OD local account?

Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure I understand or more likely I didn’t explain it clearly. The POP servers are on different domains. One is mydomain.com and the other is mydomain.biz. The .biz server, running POP, is also an OD slave and the .com server, running POP, is the OD master.

The client is a 3rd machine on the .com network and that is where I set up 2 Applemail accounts. One on .com which works fine and other on .biz which is where I am having the problem.

Only to the extent of what can be changed via admin server. However, if it breaks something else then I’m in trouble. I’ll think about it. Thanks.

Thanks again. Will upgrading solve this problem or will I still need to modify amavis? This might be more then I want to do. I am always leery of upgrading these things because if something goes wrong Apple tech support will be of no help.

That parameter was set to -999. I get the header but it is not telling me the totals. It is the tests=_TESTSSCORES(,)_ that I need and am not getting. TIA.

Thanks. Where do I find the documentation for the amavis.conf file? I’ve been all over the amavis web site and did all kinds of google searches but I cannot find the description of those parameters anywhere.

That did it. Thanks. Now, if I may, an additional question:

How do I do the equivalent of the Spamassassin parameter,

    add_header all Status _YESNO_, score=_SCORE_ required=_REQD_ tests=_TESTSSCORES(,)_

    Thanks again.

One additional question. When I look at the ‘X-Spam-Status’ header, the ‘required’ parameter still says 2. Is that due to rounding or did my amavis.conf change not get read in because I didn’t reload the right service? TIA.

Thanks for the reply. That explains a lot of problems I was having with Spamassassin parameters.
