Any ideas on how to make retrospect see the device? both the hp tape drive and the adaptec card are on the approved list of devices. … but im sure the type of connection i have created is not approved…the external enclosure for the tape drive.

im starting to wonder if I really need that cdrom in the top bay. it seems external cdroms are much cheaper than external tape drives…

Unfortunately, tape drives dont’ mount like disc or optical storage drives. They can’t be accessed as a random storage media…since they are sequential.

Each SCSI device (actually each device) should be attached to some /dev/ device…but I can’t remember how to test to see which external device is attached to each /dev/ device. It seems like there was some simple way to check…
