ParticipantWINS is very very important for a macosx PDC but the samba-provided WINS server sux and can’t be replicated or edited. So i strongly suggest to use a Windows server for WINS, or better, 2 Windows server for WINS with replication.
And don’t got 10.5, it’s going to be worst!

ParticipantI’m also getting a lot of issues using MacOSX 10.5. This version seem to be totally broken when used in a windows environnement. If you select the box “Password must be changed at next login”, the user is asked to change his password over and over if he logged on a replica!!!!
And the fileserver stop responding from time to time. Support for streams is whacked, etc, etc…

ParticipantI’m trying to do that with 10.5.6. No luck. I tried to join the OD PDC with samba, but it’s doesnt work. The same config work perfectly on a non-OD PDC…

ParticipantIt’s a server, so it was static dhcp

ParticipantWhile looking on how to put DirectoryService in debug mode, i found that in the log file /Library/Logs/DirectoryService/DirectoryService.server.log
2007-10-08 03:40:44 CEST – Network transition occurred.
2007-10-08 04:40:44 CEST – Network transition occurred.
2007-10-08 05:40:44 CEST – Network transition occurred. And it seem to be caused by DHCP, so i set the card back to manually and no more “socket(PF_ROUTE) failed: Too many open files”!
Thanks,
Fred
