Participant>ifconfig is the wrong tool to use on Mac OS X. Check out our article on >configd.

Participantsudo CreateGroupFolder
*sigh* The lazy bastards couldn’t put a button in WGM for this yet?
And the default perms for the group folder are rw-r—– ?,so no one in the group can actually write to anything but dropbox … off to chmod some.
Thanks again for your help!

ParticipantOkay, great, that’s what I thought you meant.

I recreated my /Volumes/Data/Users share with the afp name of UserData and now it works.
Now if only Group dirs would work. How do you create those?

Participant1. I’m fairly confidant in DNS. Kerberos seems to work (It’s running and I can get tickets) The DNS servers the server uses have A and PTR records for it and the test clients all use an /etc/hosts entry to supplement the DHCP server passing out a hostname they don’t have a record for (as they are using an older DNS server I haven’t replaced yet) … but it seems to work.
2. I’ve recreated them, of course, but I’ll try again. When you say automount record, what do you mean specifically? The Share Point creation in WGM is pretty ‘magical’… I made new dirs for Users and Groups in /Volumes/Data and then clicked on Share this drive in the first tab …
Thanks for your assistance. I”ve not bought either book yet as I’m still hoping to find them local.
