Quote by: bschappel[p]Is an OS X Server running the DHCP server process? The easiest way to make this work is to give your new Mini server a static IP and have it act as the DHCP server for your network. The client Macs find the OD server through DHCP. Your Mini server needs to either be the DHCP server or be bound to another Mac that is the DHCP server.[/p]
DHCP service is NOT running on the server. The server and clients are connected to a DSL router which provides DHCP to the LAN. The server is assigned a static IP on the same subnet as the DHCP addresses. In other words, the router provides addresses starting at 192.168.0.100 and above. The server address is 192.168.0.99. I can mount the shared volumes on this server no problem – there is no network issue here as far as I can tell. When I open Directory Utility on a client machine (10.5.x) it scans for servers for several seconds but does not find one. Previously when I had the 10.5.x server version Directory Utility would find the server immediately and ask if it should configure the client apps to use the available services. I did try manually adding the server in Directory Utility by entering the IP address of the server and that seemed to work, no errors, but I do not see how to have it automatically configure the client to see and use the Time Machine service on the server for example.

    Thanks,

    Larry
