    I have a G5 Xserve running 10.4.2
All of a sudden it will no longer mount Firewire drives from any port.
You can see the drive in system profiler, but not in the Disk Utility.
The drives work fine on other systems.
    Any ideas?

Sorry for asking the obvious, but…has it been locked at the front?

I had a similar thing with a Sony AIT-2 Firewire/USB drive – the system log was full of Firewire related errors every 2 minutes or so. Had to move the drive to USB 2.

Don’t know whether 10.4.3 fixed it or not – daren’t try switching it back just now…

You might take a look at this post on MacOS X Hints, which also points to this knowledge base doc. It basically says unplug everything hooked up to the computer then unplug the computer from the wall. Wait awhile, then plug it back in and plug your firewire devices into it. The comments hint at some developer tool command line programs that might help you out, as well.
