I have an Xserve G5 with 3 80gb drives. Drives 1&2 are on the RAID card in a RAID 1. The third drive is not on the RAID card – I use it to backup the entire system before updates, etc.

I have been using SuperDuper to do these backups. The last time I tried to do a SuperDupe, it errored out. I then tried a clone/restore with Disk Utility and also get an error before it can finish.

I “verify disk” on the booted RAID drives and it says I need to repair them. Well, I’m sort of scared to try to repair them without having a full backup, but as per the above, I can’t make a full back up.

    What are my options?

Yeah, sorry – I should have included that in the first place.

Verify Disk errors out with ” Invalid index key” and then “The underlying task reported failure on exit.”

SuperDuper errors out with the following after about 7GB:

    | 10:09:50 AM | Error | SDCopy(20588) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=1069056) failed (error code=3)
    | 10:09:50 AM | Error | SDCopy(20588) malloc: *** error: can’t allocate region
    | 10:09:50 AM | Error | SDCopy(20588) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug
