    Hi,

I really hope we’re missing something daft here, but here goes…

We have a standard ‘golden triangle’ setup with a Leopard based Intel Xserve and a Windows 2003 domain. It’s been working fine and currently users are getting their specified settings; we set this up a few months back.

But in going back to make some tweaks to the settings in Workgroup Manager this week, despite correctly authenticating as diradmin, I find that all the controls are greyed out. I can’t apply settings to groups or users, or add users or groups.

Viewing the properties of the diradmin account it still lists administration capabilities as ‘full’. I’ve tried this on the server and from a client Mac with the server tools installed, neither works.

Has anyone seen this? If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Chris

Did you solve this? I’m experiencing this today. I’m concerned it’s because changeip ran on the wrong directory. Otherwise I haven’t been able to explain this yet. I am able to edit LDAP using a java-based editor but Workgroup Manager refuses.

servermgrd errors report that servermgr_accounts got error 5203 trying to auth to local LDAP node

error 5203 seems to mean authentication server timed out

Resolved this myself. It was because I ran changeip on an old system and changeip ran it on the new system over the network. Thanks Apple! (not!). Various entries in the db were pointing to the IP of the decommissioned server. Hence it couldn’t authenticate. I managed to rerun changeip on just the IP addresses and it repaired everything and all was well again.

I had same issue, thanks for this tip. I ran changeip and checked the server thoroughly at setup so didn’t think to check it.

I am getting a message that I cannot use changeip because I am using advanced server, and that I have to use Server Manager to change the name and IP of the server. Trouble is, there is no place that lets me change it! What now??
