I have a WIndows XP Pro system that the first account created on it can access the 10.2.8 server with no problems authenticating the username and password, actually it works seamlessly. I have created another account on the machine for an employee, used the same username as the one assigned on the XServe as well as the password.

When I try to connect that account to the shared spaces on the server a login window appears. The first attempt at logging in will not work, and the login window will refresh with the computer name preceding the username.

    i.e.: Username: ibmxp/admin

How can I work around this?

I believe I know what is causing the issue now, I have to set the users to Open Directory for the password type, instead of the default.

I believe the passwords have to be 8 characters or less as the test account I was playing with to figure this out did not work at first.
