    Hi All,
I am really not a networking person but suddenly have been asked to look into some networking issues. In our department, we authenticate mac and windows users against open directory services. The mac users can change their password on their own by just hitting on Finder/Go/Connect To Server and then when we enter the ip address, the logon window also provides with an option to change the password. However, when the windows user wants to change the password, we dont know how he can do it on his own. Right now, we change the password from the workgroup manager account mangerement screen. I am sure there must be some better way of handling this.

If anyone can share what they do for this scenario, it would be very very helpful.

    Thanks

The Mac OSXS has open directory services running. We have set up accounts and password for both windows and mac users in the open directory. The ODS performs the user authentication for all these accounts it has set.

I hope this answers your question. If I am not clear, do let me know. I thought that by saying primary domain controller, you mean that the ODS has the account set up in it.

    Thanks

Thank you so much for helping me out.

Actually, we dont login at the login window of the windows system using the user account hosted by the PDC. There are some drop boxes created for every account maintained by ODS in the Mac OSX machine that runs the open directory services. The users use this user account hosted by PDC to access their drop boxes.

I hope I am clear. Please do ask me if I am still not clear.

Thank you MacTroll. Will look at the link and figure out what needs to be done.
