Windows / OS X Server Permissions Access

I am having problems giving Open Directory users permissions access to specific folders on local Windows hard drives that are fully bound to the server.

I want to allow an LDAP group (ex: faculty group) to have specific rights to a folder. When I go to add users or groups to the security tab, and I type a specific user (domain name backslash username), it works just fine. If I try to do the same thing to a group (domain name backslash group) it will not even take.

Am I doing something wrong?
