I have used MySQL for years and on my PowerBook MySQL is stored in /usr/local/mysql (this is the entropy.ch kit). I decided to use the built-in MySQL Server when I installed Tiger Server. Today I wanted to check the MySQL “data” folder, and I can’t find one. In the entropy.ch version it is /usr/local/mysql/data. Can anyone tell me where it is in Mac OS X Server – I can find the mysql executables in /usr/bin but nothing else?

The reason I want to do this is that I want to put MySQL’s data (well, the whole shooting-match if I can) onto a separate volume.

I suppose another option would be to create a new folder hierarchy on the other volume and symbolic link that as /usr/local. I have done such things with Solaris, but not really tried it under Mac OS X. Is there any documentation that would advise me on the ramifications of doing this?

    Thanks,

    Ian.
