I recently noticed a process called IIDCAssistant running on my server. Anyone know what it is?

Do you have any firewire devices connected to your server?

option2: we´ve seen one of the first viruses for mac… Frown

It is most certainly part of iSight, Apple’s webcam platform.

it’s part of the iSightAudio.plugin located in
    /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/iSightAudio.plugin
as far as I know, if you don’t use iSight, you can delete this, I did and things seem fine.

It has to do with the iSight that’s for sure. If you watch the process in Activity Monitor or use top you’ll notice that the CPU usage drops from 2.50% to 0% when you close the lens cover.

When you click on the video icon in your buddy list to open the iSight preferences the CPU usages bumps up to 2.60 and 2.70%.

    Thought you’d like to know…
