Im sure Im doing something stupid but I cant get my network home share to have the correct permissions.

    This is what im doing.

10.5 server and client, win server 2003 for AD
    Golden Triangle setup
can login fine on mac client and it mounts my AD home folder fine with correct permissions

The trouble happens when I try to get my home folder come from the mac server.

I started AFP and SMB services, setting SMB to be a domain member. I then made a share, set as an automount home folder on the mac server, making sure afp and smb were set to be on for that share.
Then on the AD box, I changed the profile of a user to point the home to \\servername\sharename\%username%

Now I tried logging in on the mac client with my test users AD credentials, but it wouldnt let me in saying the home folder can not be found. Obviously, although the main share exists, there is no user folder within as I thought this would be created when logging in the first time.

I created this manually, then as there was no access for my test user, in server admin>file sharing, I selected the permissions tab and added the user from AD to the ACL. I then changed this user to have full writes to this folder and clicked save. But then this users username in ACL changed to a string of characters like 55B8F0E3-0EEF etc for some reason? Now I still cant login and have the home mount!

    any ideas?
