ParticipantIs anyone maintaining a list of extra packages one needs to add to a base 10.5.4 install to make an up-to-date InstaDMG image? If there is such a list, I think it would be very valuable.
For example, I think the following needs to be there in this order. This is based on looking at the Apple support Web site and moving forward in time in the recent updates section starting at the 10.5.6 combo updater. My assumption is that the combo updater has all updates prior to 10.5.6.
Base OS (10.5.4)
Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update
Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.4
Mail Update
QuickTime 7.6 for Leopard
Security Update 2009-001 (Leopard)
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 3
MacBook SMC Update 1.3 (*)
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.5
Battery Update 1.4 (*)(*) Yikes! Should these types of hardware specific updates go into the image? Will they execute properly on first boot or something? How do people handle hardware updates on hardware? Should these be removed from the InstaDMG image and then after imaging a system run Software Update?
Thanks,
Allan Marcus

ParticipantActually, I keep such a thing as part of InstaUp2Date, and you can find the latest version at:
I try to keep pretty close to the latest, but right now I am missing the latest iTunes and FrontRow updates. If someone wants to validate them, I will be happy to commit the changes.

ParticipantAwesome! Does InstaDMG cache these updates as well, or is it really better to download them locally?

ParticipantYa, if you start it up it will pull down the updates and cache them locally for you.

So how current is that list? I’m glad I found it as I was reinventing the update order every time I did a new image.
I don’t know if this is appropriate here but I need to add an iLife 09 flat pack upgrade because my Base OS had iLife 08. Where would it be best to insert that? I’m testing it after the QuickTime 7.6 update now.

Participantit’s kept up to date. I just submitted the latest Apple changes to it and they were added to the svn repo.
