I have been very frustrated trying to set up network shares for users with server 10.0. I have been able to get the DNS up and Kerberos is working, I think, so I have one big hurdle passed. However, getting the home directory specified is nut not working. In my efforts I have been playing around with the entries for home directory setup. I have concluded that the line for Home directory is the path the client computer uses for finding the directory. Just putting /Users there end up putting the home directory on the local computer in the User directory, for example. The odd thing to me is that the advice to use /Network/Servers/-ServerName-/-UserFolderName-/-usersname- Doesn’t seem to work for me. The volume mounted on my cllient machine is the -UserFolderName- which appears in the /Volumes directory. The only entry that ever is in the /Servers directory is my local client machine itself. In the /Network folder the sever name appears, but when that is connected to the shared folder is mouted as a volume.
I am trying to make sense of all this. I’d like to know what the three fields in the home directory setup do. The three lines are in workgroup manager. The first is the Mac OS O Sever/Share point, the next is the Path, and ther third is the home. There are found when you are editing the location for the home directory.
Thanks, Steve
