Hey Everybody,
I’ve done a fair amount of research regarding the VPN on Demand feature that is a part of Leopard (and I think Tiger as well). Sounds like it only halfway works in that VPN connections are only automatically established if the application that is trying to access the targeted domain uses the cfnetwork API’s to establish connections. Applications like Safari apparently use these and VPN on Demand works perfectly. But if you attempt to establish a VPN connection when you connect to an AFP or SMB share with the Finder it does not work.
Has anybody found a way around this? I’d really like to have applications like Time Machine and Finder automatically establish a VPN connection when invoked. It’s not that difficult to establish a VPN connection from the menubar prior to using these applications or services, but the thought of a truly transparent solution for remote access users would just be awesome.
Thanks!
