I have a client who’s running 10.3 Server, and he has created an account named “guest” for guests to login. Managing this account through the GUI is impossible because selecting it from the list in Workgroup Manager will cause it to crash immediately. This happens even when running the most current version on another machine remotely. I can manipulate it directly through NetInfo CLI tools without issue, but this is not something the client wants to do.

My best guess at this point is that either the NetInfo database is mangled somehow, or the OS has its own notion of a “guest” account and is rebelling against the existence of this homespun version. Is there a solution to this or should I just delete the account outright and tell him not to do that anymore?
