ParticipantI don’t see the title as being one of the supported DVD volume names in the script, but is there any reason one couldn’t use the CPU upgrade DVD that came with all the “Leopard” machines bought during the transition?
Searching the forums only yields a single post on this topic:
Where someone is using a non instaDMG script fine. I know the GUI installer checks for Tiger, but not sure about the CLI version.
I may try and run a build tonight after modifying the script for that string…

ParticipantThe drop-in upgrade DVD probably will look for Tiger, whether GUI or CLI installed. Since InstaDMG starts with a clean slate, an installer with a requirement of a previous OS installation won’t work. The forum post you mentioned looks like the user was installing particular packages from inside the metapackage (mpkg), possibly bypassing the check for the previous OS.
If you’re curious whether the drop-in can be used to do a clean installation, MacFixIt got swatted by Apple a few years ago for posting instructions on converting a 10.1 upgrade CD to a 10.1 full install CD. So while it’s possible, I’d just wait for an unrestricted installation DVD to end up in your hands or purchase a retail copy of Leopard.

ParticipantWell, FWIW – it actually seems to work fine with the drop-in DVD – didin’t bother to dig any further, I have a retail DVD I’ll use to build my final workflow – but I post this in case someone is searching in the future (I did need to change the volume name to match).

ParticipantWe came across one problem, which is that the Gestures videos that explain the fancy new usage of the MacBook Air and new MacBook Pro multitouch touchpads, aren’t included on the retail disk, and is not in the comboupdater. We fixed this by creating our own .pkg that places these moives in the right directory, works great now.
