A server that we get called in on every few months (last time it was rebooted was when we installed the RAID for Xserve 141 days ago). The office had been experiencing problems logging in with certain users- now nobody can log in. The system log shows “Client no response timeout: username and then a corresponding Saved for Reconnect
User: username. So far I have no clue what is going on. The users are asked for credentials, but authentication never occurs. There is nothing hogging resources according to top- top ends up being the highest CPU user at about 10%. All clients show the same behavior, so it definitely looks like a server issue.

Users are manually connecting via AFP, and OD is not being used.

Saw some somewhat similar situations- one said the unlockupd helped, but I thought that was for 10.4. only? And the other was unresolved but in 10.2.something.

Any ideas on what to do other than a complete reinstall?
