ParticipantI have two users who can not check their mail (via web mail nor mail.app), nor can mail be sent to them. They can log in to their network accounts though.
Running 10.5.5 on xServe.
Messages in the mail server log reads:May 23 20:42:26 tiger postfix/smtpd[2258]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from 97-119-71-38.omah.qwest.net[97.119.71.38]: 550 5.1.1
: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table; from= to= proto=ESMTP helo=<[192.168.0.7]> May 23 20:58:40 tiger postfix/smtpd[2435]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from unknown[192.168.1.142]: 550 5.1.1
: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table; from= to= proto=ESMTP helo=<[192.168.1.142] As you can see, this occurs whether mail is sent from the local domain or outside. The users show up in the mail maintenance accounts window. I have tried reconstructing the accounts there, as well as rebuilding the mail database on the server. No luck. Users can log in to network accounts, but can't log in to mail - Error reported is May 23 21:09:12 tiger imap[2957]: AOD: user opts: get attributes for user: username failed with error: -14479 May 23 21:09:12 tiger imap[2957]: AOD: user options: lookup failed for: username (-14479) May 23 21:09:12 tiger imap[2957]: badlogin from: [192.168.1.157]. plaintext user: username. mail is not enabled for this user I have used workgroup manager to turn mail off and on for the user, but no difference. Any suggestions on how to bring these two users back to life? May 26, 2009 at 10:51 am #376287sstortz
Participant
Quote by: MacTroll[p]Using dscl what’s the users e-mail attribute look like? Should be a chunk of XML that describes what server they’re supposed to be enabled for.
It’s common that if the IP address specified is not what the server things it’s using, you’ll have issues.[/p]
I am not very familiar with dscl. Since these are network accounts, I went to the server (10.5 and users 10.5) and entered
dscl -u diradmin -p leopard.clnorfolk.org (leopard is where network accounts are hosted, tiger is mail server)
but don’t know where to go from there. In workgroup manager, I used the inspector tab to get the following info
kAPOPRequired
APOPNotRequired
kAltMailStoreLoc
kAttributeVersion
Apple Mail 1.0
kAutoForwardValue
kIMAPLoginState
IMAPAllowed
kMailAccountLocation
tiger.clnorfolk.org
kMailAccountState
Enabled
kPOP3LoginState
POP3Deny
kUserDiskQuota
240
the dsAttrTypeNative:apple- shows the following
kAPOPRequired
APOPNotRequired
kAltMailStoreLoc
kAttributeVersion
Apple Mail 1.0
kAutoForwardValue
kIMAPLoginState
IMAPAllowed
kMailAccountLocation
tiger.clnorfolk.org
kMailAccountState
Enabled
kPOP3LoginState
POP3Deny
kUserDiskQuota
240
