Just finished an in place upgrade from 10.2 to 10.3 and there are a few things that are just strange now. Largely problems surrounding the direct use of the server since the server is a test machine that is also used as a workstation.
Some accounts can no longer log in locally. This is a little bizarre since others have no problems at all. What I do find particularly odd is that I have enabled fast user switching, but only the admin account shows up in the list of available accounts. To further compound my confusion, if you go to the login panel and relogin as a user that has opened a connection, it switches to this account in it’s logged in state no problem.
I’m now a little confused as to the separation between Open Directory and the NetInfo root account setup. The accounts in the Netinfo root don’t show up in the fast user switching menu, but if I create a new account in the accounts control panel, it shows up for fast user switching, and in the Workgroup manager, but the others in the Workgroup Mgr do not yet show up in the menu. Time to export the accounts, blow them away and reconstruct? My concern is there’s a fair bit of work involved in ensuring that I can reconstruct the existing IMAP mail stores if I go this route.
The other problem is that the upgrade hosed all of the web settings and now it generates an error every time that I attempt to create a new web site. I’ve noticed this problem on mentioned on the Apple boards but so far there’s no word about a solution. Any hints on which local config files I should modify/blow away to enable web management again?
