G4 Tower, Sawtooth, 392MB, many drives, 9.2.2 & 10.2.2 (not server)
OK so I tried to do fresh installs of OS X Server 10.2 on several big drives (80+GB unpartitioned each) and after spinning and chugging for a while, they failed to proceed and prompted with Restart dialog. Figuring the destinantions were too large, I did a backup of the active Jag drive (6GB) and then did the upgrade (according to the direction on the CD).
After successful install it was restarted and on its return the Server Assistant comes up and I get one screen past the sn, where I am supposed to be able to put in an Admin account info, UID, shartname, pw, etc. and yet it already has the info for one of the 4 non server accounts on the 10.2.2 non-server version. It has somehow selected the 4th account created and the only one with a 9 character shortname as UID, but the fields are not editable and are greyed. The note says the shortname must be 8 characters or less but I can not change it to anything else. I also do not know why it picked the 4th existing account rather than starting off trying the old Administrator account?
I can now only reboot into 9.2.2 but wonder which file(s) to purge from the almost completed upgrade.
What am I missing?
TIA
